BeatWalk encourages local musicians to apply to perform at BeatWalk. Please read all the information below before applying, and we highly recommend you attend BeatWalk before applying to see if it's an appropriate event for you and your group.

We wish we could reply to each and every one of you, but the volume of submissions is so great that we cannot guarantee a personal reply to everyone.

What We’re Looking For

BeatWalk looks for local acts who play acoustic music that represents the diversity of Columbia City. Preference is given to duos, trios, and quartets rather than solo acts. You must have a professionally-recorded demo, available either online or to be mailed in, and have performing experience.

There are some venues that book themselves and they often book jazz, so in an effort to keep music diverse the BeatWalk coordinator doesn't book very many jazz bands. A large percentage of submissions are from jazz groups, so please be aware that this is by far the most competitive genre of music.

Details

• Performance time is from 7 - 10pm, with two (2) 15-minute breaks. You MUST be set up and ready to play by 7pm, and play until 10pm.
• Musicians are paid $80 each at the end of the evening.
• Food and/or beverage is provided at only a couple locations.
• Promotion is done in local newsletters, community calendars, e-mail distribution. We ask that musicians help with promotion by sending out an announcement through their own e-mail lists.
